Internships and Culture in London
Spend spring quarter in the heart of London! Intern in a field of your choice and take two upper-division English courses: “Global London,” taught by a UC Davis professor, explores how poems, plays, novels, and films represent the British capital’s relation to the rest of the world, focusing on London as the administrative center for the British empire, as an “emporium” for colonial imports and other foreign consumer goods, as a host to foreign travelers, and as a multi-lingual city of immigrants. A second course focuses on contemporary “British Life and Culture.” Fulfill your requirements for GE Writing Experience, Arts and Humanities, and World Cultures, as well as for the English major and minor. Take classes in fashionable Kensington and participate in a professional internship for 20 hours a week. Excursions in and outside of London are also an integral part of the program.
Students will participate in a professional internship for 20 hours per week. All students are guaranteed an internship in their field of study or a related field. Internship details, placement information, and sample internships.
What Students Are Saying
- “The most rewarding aspect of my experience was being able to embrace the London culture and become a “Londoner” for eleven weeks while doing everything I possibly could in that time.”
- “My internship experience has been very unique and educational. I have been able to work one-on-one with students on countless occasions and learn how to work with students of a wide array of ages and needs. The internship team has been very helpful with any problem that has come up for me. The placement process was simple and easy. I had my interviews and got the internship I interviewed for.”
