Program Overview
Intern in Tokyo—a city where centuries-old tradition collides with neon-lit innovation, and the energy never lets up. As a global tech powerhouse and the world's most populous metropolis, Tokyo is the ultimate launchpad for international, professional experience. We match you with a placement built around your background, career goals, interests, and skills, across fields like accounting, sales, PR, finance, advertising, communication, marketing, web design, hospitality and tourism, and more.
You'll intern approximately 32-40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, and should expect to dedicate additional hours to an online course led by a UC Davis instructor.
The program kicks off with a week-long Japanese language course, and an on-site orientation designed to help you settle into the city, your cohort, and your internship. Then keeps the momentum going with excursions, networking events.
You'll live in shared student-style housing within an hour of your internship site. Students should expect a short walk to the train station and to commute roughly forty-five minutes to an hour each way.
The global pandemic has changed the way some career fields approach daily work. Students may encounter a hybrid workplace where they will adopt schedules similar to their coworkers, such as some days in the office, some days working remotely, and experiences both in person and online.
