Participants in London are assigned to student-style apartments located in the historic area of Clerkenwell. Each apartment suite has four single rooms with twin bed, linens, wardrobe, desk and chair, and shelving. There are two bathrooms in each suite with showers, a living room, breakfast bar with chairs, and fully-equipped kitchen facilities. Coin-operated laundry and 24/7 reception security staff are on-site.
The residence is within five minutes’ walk of the Farringdon Underground station, ten minutes to the Barbican station, and easy access to regular buses on Clerkenwell road. Home to a very active nightlife and restaurants, Clerkenwell is also within walking distance of the financial district, Bloomsbury, and Covent Garden.
Participants should be open to all types of accommodation as housing placements are based on a number of factors such as availability, program length, cost, number of participants and proximity to the internship site.
Specific details about accommodations and local transportation to and from internship site will be provided prior to departure. Transportation between your accommodations and internship site is not provided. The estimated expenses in the program budget includes an estimated amount for on-site transport.
Students arriving early or staying after the program will need to make their own housing arrangements.
UC Davis reserves the right to change the accommodation location. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners and other modern conveniences may not be available in all locations.
Meals are not included in the program cost and are the responsibility of the participant. Each apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen for preparing meals. There are grocery stores and cafes within walking distance to accommodations.

Participation in this UC Davis Study Abroad program requires travel to and extended living in a foreign location(s) abroad. UC Davis Study Abroad endeavors to reduce and mitigate risk wherever possible. However, the environments and risks associated with living in these locations are substantially different than those found during a regular course of study at UC Davis. All participants must download and review the following information prior to departure. Any questions should be directed to the Program Coordinator.
From Lonely Planet:
“One of the world's most visited cities, London has something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and good times. The city's buildings are striking milestones, and a great many of them – the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben – are instantly recognizable landmarks. A tireless innovator of art and culture, London is a city of ideas and the imagination. This city is deeply multicultural, with one in three Londoners foreign-born, representing 270 nationalities and 300 tongues. London remains one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities, and diversity infuses daily life, food, music and fashion. Central London is where the major museums, galleries and most iconic sights congregate, but visit Hampstead Heath or the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to flee the crowds and frolic in wide open green expanses.”
