Program Overview

Gain international professional experience in the fields of environmental engineering, architecture, urban planning, research, sustainable development, or policy. Spend your summer interning in Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city, and one of the most popular destinations on the Mediterranean. Barcelona combines urban life and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. This European destination has a rich history in art, history, culture and architecture along with its multicultural roots and warm climate. You will be matched with a placement that complements your academic and professional goals and interests. The program includes a virtual pre-trip orientation (via Zoom) and an on-site orientation to help you learn about the community, your cohort, and your internship, as well as professional development and cultural activities.

Apart from work for the internship, you will also engage in an online course facilitated by a UC Davis faculty. The online coursework provides an opportunity for meaningful reflection during the program. You will spend approximately 32-40 hours per week at your internship and an additional two hours per week taking the online course.
