Education Internships in Hawaii

You will live in shared-occupancy rooms in apartment-style accommodations. Each shared room will have a private bathroom. Rooms include linens, microwave, mini-fridge, study space, and individual wardrobes. Location and proximity to internships will vary based on individual placements.

UC Davis reserves the right to change the accommodation location. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners and other modern conveniences may not be available in all locations.

A group welcome meal and farewell meal are included in the program fees; all other meals will be on your own. The housing includes a kitchen for students to prepare your own meals. There is also a café in the apartment building with a wide array of sandwiches, burgers, pasta dishes, fresh juices, and more.

Excursions & Activities

Short excursions and day trips will be included as part of the program and may include the following:

  • Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center
  • Tour of a working organic farm

Students will have free time to explore other sites on their own and may enjoy:

  • Visit Pali Lookout, Circle Island, Byodo-in Temple and Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery
  • Surf lessons
  • Lei making. These outings are not included as part of the program.

Get to Know Your Destination

Honolulu is the biggest city in the Hawaiian Islands encompassing nearly 68 square miles. Within city limits one will find flawless beaches, extinct volcanoes, bustling industrial districts, and a culturally rich local population. The juxtaposition between its natural beauty and swarming metropolis provides Honolulu with a culture all its own. — Tawny Staudinger (National Geographic)
