Coursework taken on UCEAP is posted to your UC Davis transcript 90 days after the last day of your UCEAP program.

Pre-Approved UCEAP Programs

Most of the time, you will need to work with you major, minor, or Dean’s Office advisor to receive specific degree credit for courses taken on UCEAP programs. However, the UC Davis Global Learning Hub has worked with some departments on campus to pre-approve coursework on specific programs.

GE Petition Procedure for UCEAP Returnees

Students who have participated in the UCEAP program and wish to receive General Education (GE) credit at UC Davis for those courses must submit a petition through the UC Davis Global Learning Hub. The Global Learning Hub will forward the petition to the Academic Senate Committee on International Education (CIE) to review and make final decision for GE credit.

Before submitting a petition:

  • Review GE Requirements and Guidelines: Familiarity with the UC Davis’s GE Guidelines is essential to determine if courses taken abroad may meet the requirements. Although Dean's office advisors cannot pre-approve GE courses taken on UCEAP, they may be able to provide insight into which types of courses are more or less likely to satisfy GE criteria. All restrictions applicable to UC Davis courses apply to courses taken abroad.
  • Check Approved Courses List: Consult the list of courses already reviewed and approved for GE credit. If a course is on this list, it is still necessary to notify your Dean's office advisor to indicate that a request for GE credit for that course on your degree check. A screenshot of the approved courses list should be taken to the Dean's office advisor. If a course is not listed GE credit is desired, the petition process outlined below must be followed.

GE Petition Submission Process

Complete and submit the UC Davis Study Abroad GE Petition Packet in a single PDF file per course in the following order:

  • GE Petition Form must include the UCEAP class subject and number. It must also be signed and dated.
  • UCEAP course description from the UCEAP Course Catalog.
  • Course syllabus which must be translated into English if it is in a foreign language.
  • Additional documentation as needed, such as writing samples.
  • Name your petition in the following format: LastName_CourseNumber_3DigitSubmission Month_2DigitSubmissionYear (i.e., Smith_MAT021_Oct_24). Submit the petition file online by placing it in the GE Petition Submission Box Folder.
  • Important: Petitions submitted without the UCEAP course description and syllabus will not be processed. If there is not a course description in the UCEAP course catalog at time of submission a statement explaining this must be included with the submission.
  • Writing Experience: Essays must be written in English. A copy of the written work with the professor's remarks or corrections must be provided, or the GE petition must be signed by the professor before leaving the country.
  • Domestic Diversity courses must focus specifically on U.S. domestic diversity, not the host country of study. Courses that mention the U.S. in the course description but are not solely focused on the U.S. are unlikely to fulfill this requirement.
  • Graduating Seniors: It is important  to consider satisfying outstanding GE requirements by enrolling in courses that meet the requirements on campus if you are  filing to graduate. Petitions take time to be reviewed, and are not guaranteed to be processed or approved in time to file for graduation.

UCEAP GE Review Periods

Petitions submitted by the specified deadline will have decisions by the corresponding return date. Please allow 3-4 business days after return date posted to receive notification that your petition has been uploaded to your Oasis account. The email notification will include details on how to access your returned form, and the next steps to take.
