Hi everyone! My name is Meigan and I am a third year Managerial Economics major with a minor in Global Studies. Following my high school graduation, I was honored with the opportunity to study abroad in a high school exchange to Germany through the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship.
My exchange experience in Germany was an unforgettable experience. As a young adult who was still figuring everything out, I was exposed to an unfamiliar environment that challenged me. I faced not only a language barrier, but also faced difficulties adapting to and integrating with my new host family and new school. I eventually overcame these obstacles and in doing so, I learned much more about myself, discovered the beautiful complexity of a different culture, and expanded my own perspective of the world.
My time abroad is an experience I would do again in a heart beat. It was incredibly enriching and I cannot emphasize enough the benefits of a study abroad experience. This exchange furthered my already budding interest to study abroad and I look forward to studying abroad in Japan through the UCEAP Program this Fall!
