Hey everyone! My name is Jorinna Huang. I am a second year student majoring in Material Science and Engineering with an emphasis on Fiber and Polymer Science. I was born in Los Angeles, California, and originally from Taiwan. I was mainly brought up in Beijing, China, and only moved back to Taiwan for high school. Now I am here in the U.S pursuing my college studies. I moved around quite a bit over the course of my life and I love traveling because those experiences definitely broadened my horizons and shaped me to be a more open-minded person. However, it was not until a study abroad journey to England in my second year of high school that I realized studying abroad is absolutely different from touring. That experience provided me a chance to step out of my comfort zone, to learn to be independent, and to embrace the cultural differences.
Action speaks louder than words. Study abroad is not only a chance to know the world better, but also a chance to let the world know something about you. After the study abroad experience, I realized that being international does not mean being able to speak multiple languages or having friends from all over the world. It signifies the opportunity I have to explore the world and feel the world with enthusiasm.
Studying abroad has countless benefits and it has shaped me to become a braver person embracing the world. What is your dream country? As long as you have the passion to give it try, study abroad is definitely the best chance to fulfill your dream!
