Each UC Davis Summer Abroad Internship program pairs UC Davis Study Abroad with a partner organization that manages the personalized internship placements; arranges accommodations and excursions; leads onsite orientations and optional social events; and provides 24/7 emergency support. As part of the placement process for Summer Internships, participants will first enroll through UC Davis Study Abroad and then complete a supplemental application for the partner organization associated with their particular Summer Internship program.

The Pediatric Health program offers financial aid eligibility for UC Davis Summer Abroad Internship programs, with fees covering lodging, meals, cultural excursions, and health insurance, while personal expenses like airfare, meals not included, and entertainment are additional costs.

The Pediatric Health program involves pre-departure and on-site orientations, requires participants to arrange their own travel and visas, offers insurance coverage, and advises LGBTQIA+ travelers to research local laws and culture due to limited protections in Bolivia.

The Pediatric Health program offers accommodations in homestays within the Sopocachi neighborhood, two meals daily, and includes various excursions and activities to immerse students in Bolivian culture and healthcare challenges, particularly regarding indigenous populations in La Paz.

Dr. Elisabeth Lore holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UC Davis, specializing in French, Caribbean, Chicanx, and multilingual literatures. Her current research explores Mediating Literature, a genre focused on negotiating relationships between conflicting cultures, particularly those shaped by immigration.

UC Davis Summer Abroad Bolivia offers students the opportunity to earn units over the summer through immersive coursework, enhanced by local excursions, guest lectures and reflective assignments.
