Please do not submit your enrollment if you do not intend to participate in a Summer Abroad program. The cancellation policy outlined below applies to all students including those planning to use financial aid.

If you need to cancel from a Summer Abroad program, you must complete an official Cancellation/Withdrawal Form. You must request the form via email by contacting summerabroad@ucdavis.edu.

Cancellations/Withdrawals are effective the date the form is received by Summer Abroad and NOT the date the form is requested. Postmarks will not be used to determine the effective date.  If a student fails to officially cancel from the program, they will be charged all program fees. There are no refunds for non-attendance.

All cancellations are subject to the Cancellation Policy and Deadlines (below). Note: The cancellation policy is also in the Summer Abroad Guide, Program Specific Guide, and Summer Abroad Contract.

The $300 deposit is NOT refundable under any circumstance.

April 14 – May 11, 2018: If you cancel from April 14 through May 11 you will be charged and liable for:

  • $300 non-refundable deposit
  • 50% of the Accommodations & Services Abroad Fee (amount varies by program, $4000 or more)

May 12 – June 14, 2018: If you cancel from May 12 through June 14 you will be charged and liable for:

  • $300 non-refundable deposit
  • 100% of the Accommodations & Services Abroad Fee (amount varies by program, $4000 or more)

June 15, 2018 (and after): If you cancel on or after June 15, you are liable for ALL Program Fees:

  • $300 non-refundable deposit

Withdrawal from Summer Abroad

To withdraw from the program while it is in progress, you must fill out a Cancellation/Withdrawal Form (available from Summer Abroad). There are NO refunds for withdrawals under any circumstances.

Withdrawal While Abroad

To withdraw from the program while it is in progress, you must fill out a Cancellation/Withdrawal Form (available from Quarter Abroad). There are NO refunds for withdrawals under any circumstances.

You will be responsible for all expenses incurred during your stay. You will be expected to pay all in-country bills, including phone bills, rent, overdue books, etc. In addition, financial aid may have to be returned and you may have to begin repayment of loans.

Failure to resolve any outstanding financial obligations abroad may result in a hold on future registration and may impose other consequences. Unpaid bills may compromise your standing with the University of California.

UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) Cancellation

UCEAP cancellation policies are found in the UCEAP Guide to Study Abroad. Please contact your UC Davis program advisor as soon as possible if you decide to cancel, as withdrawal after certain dates (program-specific) will require you to owe fees. Refer to your notification email (sent to you upon selection for participation in the program) for this date.
