Seminars Abroad Student Cancellation

Please do not submit your enrollment if you do not intend to participate in a Seminars Abroad program. The cancellation policy outlined below applies to all students including those planning to use financial aid.

If you need to cancel/withdraw from a Seminars Abroad program, you must complete an official Cancellation/Withdrawal Form. You may request the form via email by contacting

Cancellations/Withdrawals are effective the date the form is received by Seminars Abroad and NOT the date the form is requested.  Postmarks will not be used to determine the effective date.  If a student fails to officially cancel from the program, they will be charged all program fees. There are no refunds for non-attendance.

All cancellations are subject to the Cancellation Policy and Deadlines (below). Note: The cancellation policy is also in the Seminars Abroad Guide, Program Specific Guide, and Seminars Abroad Contract.

Cancellations/Withdrawal Policy and Deadlines

The $300 deposit is not refundable under any circumstances.

If you cancel on or after June 29, 2019 through July 19, 2019 you will be charged and liable for:

  • $300 non-refundable deposit;
  • 50% Accommodations and Services Abroad Fee (amount varies by program)

If you cancel on or after July 20, 2019 you will be charged and liable for:

  • $300 non-refundable deposit;
  • 100% Accommodations and Services Abroad Fee (amount varies by program)
  • Seminars Abroad Fee

Withdrawal While Abroad

To withdraw from the program while it is in progress, you must fill out a Cancellation/Withdrawal Form (available from Seminars Abroad). There are NO refunds for withdrawals under any circumstances.

Non-attendance is NOT a form of cancellation. There are no refunds for non-attendance. You will still be liable for all fees and will not be reimbursed for travel-related expenses including airfare, passport fees or other costs.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

Every year students have to cancel due to unforeseen financial difficulties, new job opportunities, family emergencies, accidents, and illness. UC Davis and UC Davis Study Abroad cannot and will not offer any special refunds or fee forgiveness outside of our fee schedule and many times financial aid has to be repaid. Therefore, we strongly encourage all participants to research and purchase appropriate trip cancellation insurance.

Trip cancellation insurance may be purchased to cover lost program fees, in addition to airfare and other costs. In the past, students have said that they did not purchase trip cancellation insurance because they did not expect or intend to cancel. Do not avoid purchasing trip cancellation insurance for this reason. Be prepared and be responsible.
