Ciao! My name is Jordan Siccardi and I’m a 3rd year student in the International Relations and Economics departments. I enjoy cycling, reading, and learning new things! Back in Fall 2016, I studied abroad on the UC Davis Italian Language & Culture program in Florence.
Despite incredible food and world class art, the best part of my trip was living with a host family. I don’t have any siblings myself, but by being welcomed into the Ducci family, I ended up with an authentic Italian ‘host-brother’. We toured the city and he showed me all the secret, local spots of Florence! Now, I have a second family almost 6000 miles away which still keeps in contact and welcomes me to visit.
Travelling to Italy was my first time in Europe and I was able to visit many other countries while abroad. The entire experience was priceless and I cherish all the great friends made along the way—not to mention all the academic units which raised my GPA and class standing.
After returning to Davis, I changed majors from MPS to International Relations so I could expand my international awareness and hopefully go abroad again! The opportunity to explore, meet lifelong friends, and learn something new is one of a kind and worth taking the leap. If you ever find yourself curious about study abroad, keep looking into it! Those few months in Italy were the best of my life and I never expected all the benefits which came forth.
I’m available for advising through the Study Abroad office and can’t wait to hear about your future adventures abroad.
