Hi everyone! My name is Gretchen Miller and I am a fourth year Political Science and Digital Media double major from San Diego. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study abroad in fall 2017 at the London School of Economics in the UK. When the program ended, I felt that I grew academically and personally from my time abroad.
Travel has always been of high interest to me. When I was in elementary school, my family hosted an Italian foreign exchange student for a year. The experience was so wonderful that we decided to host a Japanese student a few years later. These two girls are like sisters to me, and as I was able to share my world with them, they taught me so much about their cultures. My worldview expanded, and I have been interested in seeing the world ever since.
I believe traveling is an important component of understanding the world, those around you, and yourself. Though we live in an age where it is easy to scroll through pictures of Copenhagen on Instagram or watch videos of Seoul on Youtube, it is not until you see these places in person that you can begin to grasp and appreciate the magnitude of the world and the people in it.
I am incredibly excited to be working at the Study Abroad Center as an Administrative Assistant so I can help students make the most of their time abroad, as it truly is the experience of a lifetime!
