Hi! My name is Ashlyn Nunes and I am a fourth year Managerial Economics major with a minor in Global Studies. I am from a town near Sacramento, so moving to Davis for college wasn't really a stretch for me and I still visit home frequently. Besides have a burning desire to see and experience the world, I also wanted to step out of my comfort zone and test my independence, so I decided to do spring quarter abroad through UCEAP in Barcelona, Spain.
Having left the country for the first time the year prior, this was a huge deal for me! Initially, I was hesitant to even look at studying abroad because after the cost of my first trip, I didn't think it was feasible. However, after figuring out my financial aid and accepting a scholarship, I was able to travel effortlessly. Anyone can do it and I can not stress that enough! I was able to indulge myself into the Catalan culture, meet friends from all over the world, and practice my Spanish. I was also able to travel to other countries on the weekend and was able to visit Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, and even Morocco and the Sahara Desert. Throughout each destination I was able to explore different foods, customs, and languages. Everything I experienced will be a lifelong memory and has provided me with stories I will tell throughout my life.
Studying abroad was the best decision I ever made in college and I am excited to help other students make memories like the ones I did. There's really nothing like it! That amount of self growth and worldly appreciation is unmatched and I couldn't recommend anything more. Please feel free to come into the Study Abroad office and we can answer any personal or academic questions you may have.
