You're Invited!

Come to the Global Learning Showcase to learn about your global opportunities at UC Davis!

Hosted by the Global Learning Hub and the Internship & Career Center, the Global Learning Showcase is intended to inform both undergraduate and graduate students about opportunities to study, work, intern, and research in areas all over the world—including virtually, on campus, and in the local community.

This year, all UC campuses are partnering together to offer an especially wide variety of sessions! Every UC will host their own event with many sessions cross-listed across campuses.

The Showcase is a variety of info sessions and panels, each between 20 minutes and one hour, on a wide range of global topics and opportunities. You can join us for as many or as few of the sessions as you would like; each session is a stand-alone event. Zoom links will be sent to registered participants the week of the event.

  • Hear from globally engaged students about their experiences.
  • Learn from advisors about programs that will meet individual needs.
  • Explore a variety of financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Remotely attend various workshops, presentations, and panels.
  • Learn why it’s important to be globally engaged.

While study abroad has become increasingly inaccessible for undocumented students in recent years, we encourage the community to join this session to explore what global educational opportunities are available virtually and domestically. An attorney from the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center will also join us to outline current law as well as the risks and challenges involved with domestic travel.

The JET Program: Live, Work, and Discover Japan! (UC-Wide)

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program offers young professionals the opportunity to work in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs). Since 1987, more than 75,000 JET Program participants from over 70 countries have lived and worked in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Join JET and become part of this exclusive network of like-minded international enthusiasts!

Peace Corps: Exploring Your Global Future (UC-Wide)

Peace Corps sends volunteers to serve in over 60 countries around the globe. Volunteers must be American citizens and come from all backgrounds to represent the diversity of America abroad. They work at a grassroots level in six different program areas—education, health, environment, youth development, agriculture and community economic development—for a period of 27 months. Volunteers receive transportation to and from the country, a monthly living stipend, vacation and health benefits, and significant training. The Peace Corps provides loan deferment options and, after completing service, volunteers receive a readjustment allowance of over $9,000, lifetime eligibility for certain graduate school fellowships and one year of preferential hiring for federal positions. Peace Corps service is a life-changing experience that develops leadership skills and opens doors professionally and academically. The University of California Education Abroad Program has 150 study abroad programs designed with you in mind. Get an introduction to UCEAP, compare the cost of studying abroad vs. remaining at UC, learn about scholarship opportunities, and discover how making smart decisions will impact your safety abroad.

Explore UCEAP’s diverse program offerings by attending sessions segmented by location and area of study. Your family is encouraged to participate, too, and there’s a special session intended to answer their unique questions in both English and Spanish.
