Internship Placement Process

Placements will take place on a rolling basis. After you have completed the UC Davis Study Abroad online enrollment, the program coordinator will send you the internship placement application from CATIE, our program partner. Required supplemental documents include:

  • Resume
  • One (1) letter of recommendation from a professor, advisor, or employer
  • Short essay (under one page) commenting why you are applying to the internships of your choice.

You should prepare all supplemental documents (except for the short essay) at the same time you are completing the UC Davis Study Abroad online enrollment, to ensure that your internship materials are completed by the deadline. The internship placement process may include a phone discussion and/or Skype interview with a program manager.

During CATIE’s application process students will be asked to specify several areas of interest. While effort will be made to accommodate students’ preferences, specific internship placements are not guaranteed. Students are encouraged to be open-minded and approach the program with a willingness to learn and grow, both professionally and personally.

Resume and Cover Letter Resources

We strongly recommend that all students meet with an advisor at the UC Davis Internship and Career Center to have their resume and cover letter reviewed prior to submitting these documents to CATIE. The ICC provides many online resources, such as resume, cover letter and letter of recommendation examples.
