My name is Claire Bonino-Britsch and I'm a fourth year psychology major with a double minor in education and Italian. I spent my fall quarter traipsing around Italy on the UC Davis Quarter Abroad Program in Florence. My days were filled walking the historic city center; from my charming homestay with local fiorentina, Saura, to the bar for my morning cappuccino, to film, food, language, and culture classes in the gorgeous Piazza Della Repubblica just minutes away from all the key sights of bella Firenze! Each day brought a new adventure, whether it came in the form of a bicycle ride around the Renaissance walls of Lucca, harrowing experiences of Italian train strikes, or simply venturing onto a new little street that just happens to house the best gelato in all of Florence. What makes it special is that it all comes down to you--your choices, your attitude, your willingness to explore! With a little courage and kindness, an experience abroad goes from merely wonderful to extraordinary. As an avid Rick Steves fan and hostel aficionado, I'm always ready to take a trip and can't wait to get you going too.
