Study Abroad Operations Assistant

My name is Cassie. I'm a fourth year English major. I am happy to be working with the study abroad office because travel is a huge part of my life! I love meeting new people and exploring new places. The feeling of finding common ground with all sorts of diverse people is the best feeling one can experience. I've studied abroad twice during my time at UC Davis, once on a UC Davis program to Madrid, Spain, which sparked my love for the Spanish language, and again independently for a semester in San José, Costa Rica. My experiences in both countries have greatly shaped the person I am today.

I'm a San Franciscan born and raised and my family always encouraged me to take any opportunity to explore and test my ideas and opinions. Travel has made me see the world through many varying perspectives and helped me learn that the culture you live in very much dictates your relationship with the world. Having studied abroad in both Spain and Costa Rica, I got a deep dive into two very different societies. Their histories, and even their historical connections with each other, were fascinating to learn about. Coming to understand other cultures, both scholastically and personally, is a skill that cannot be overestimated.

I gush about my time abroad to anyone that will listen and I encourage every student or graduate, whomever has the wild adventurer within them, to explore and make new friends. Those bonds will last years and those experiences will shape you more than you can imagine.
